I’ll never forget the day years ago when I was working with a great young buyer who, when I pulled out my Wilmington map, said, “is that a paper map?” Feeling very much like his older aunt, I had him download google maps on my phone then and there! We’ve come a long way since then, and while I still like my paper map, on-line tools are getting easier and easier to have information at your fingertips.
The city has published six interactive maps which show who maintains which streets, how properties are zoned, where development activity is taking place, where flood zones are located and where people can find bike and walking trails. You can find them at gis.wilmingtonnc.gov.
